Here’s my original comment, with prices adjusted for inflation:
‎”What it Costs to be a Well Dressed Flapper”-here’s a breakdown of prices, adjusted for inflation, just so you get a sense of exactly how expensive it was!white chiffon velvet tam, cost $25 in 1926 and would cost $324 today.
black silk faille coat, cost $150 in 1926, would cost $1944 today.white silk faille blouse, cost $25 in 1926 and would cost $324 today.that large white gardenia would have been $5 in 1926 and a whopping $65 todayblack silk faille box pleated skirt was $30, would be $388 today.lizard skin bag would have cost $30, would be $388the chiffon stockings were $4.50, or $58 today.three strands of pearls for $50, which would be $648.doeskin gloves, $8.50 then, $110 now.leather shoes, $18.50 then, $239 now.No doubt many of these prices were inflated for added shock value, as this was really meant to express what a frivolous waste it was to be fashionable.Add them all up, and the total cost for the entire outfit in 2012 would have been close to $4,500. Now think of the fact that you can find a bevy of beautiful 1920s garments and accessories for prices less than what they originally retailed for, and well-priced antique or older vintage clothing looks like an absolute steal!

In the meantime, Sergey Lerenkov’s photos do a good job. Here’s photos of Paris in the 1940s blended into photos of modern-day Paris.
