I literally watched this five times in a row. And then watched it again. And I’ll probably watch it later tonight.
YES. Let’s not talk about how OBSESSED I am with Emerge and Ashli Bickford. Or how impressed I am with this video and the company. Or how much I miss dancing with these beeches who know how to werkkkkkk.
Okurrrrrrrrrr.

Emerge Danceworks - Fall 2010 Showcase
On this beautiful Saturday morning in Brooklyn, I can’t help but miss where I was a year ago. I absolutely love where I am and what I’m doing, but I do miss Saturday morning rehearsals for Emerge. There’s nothing like starting the day off dancing with people I love. I hope I’ll be able to make it up to Boston for their Fall 2011 Showcase, but regardless, I’m so proud of everything Ashli and the company are doing.

Emerge Danceworks: Spring 2011 Showcase.
Little highlights of all the Emerge Danceworks Spring 2011 pieces. Watching this made me cry because I already miss dancing with Emerge. However, I’m so excited to see the amazing things they do next year. I’ll definitely be taking trips to Boston to see what they’re up to!

Half Life, Emerge Danceworks Spring 2011 Showcase. Choreography by Ashli Bickford. Song by Imogen Heap. Videography by Mitchell Elling and Jared Taylor. Editing by Ashli Bickford.
If you missed the Emerge Danceworks Spring Showcase, here’s the senior piece we performed on Friday night.
More to come.

In case I haven’t forced you to watch this yet, here it is- the amazing promo video for Emerge Danceworks Spring Showcase. The show is this Friday in the Greene Theater at 7pm. Tickets are $3 at the door, but you should reserve a ticket by emailing ashli_bickford@emerson.edu because we’re almost sold out. The show will only be about an hour long, so you can still see Noteworthy at 8pm in the Semel and have a silly Friday night.
This will be the last time I dance at Emerson, which is a very strange thing to think about. I’m really excited for the show because the dancers in Emerge are beautiful and the choreography this semester is phenomenal.

Ashli Bickford, Age 20, Founder and Artistic Director of Emerge Danceworks.
This is a quick audio piece I edited down from a longer interview for my journalism capstone course. The assignment for the audio project was inspired by StoryCorps, which is an absolutely wonderful initiative to capture America’s history through oral interviews.
I didn’t put in an introduction, but I think Ashli’s interview stands perfectly well on its own two feet. I love her views on movement and feel lucky to be able to dance with her in Emerge. You can watch the promo she made for Emerge after last semester’s showcase.
*It’s a little on the quiet side, so you may need to turn up your speakers.

Emerge Danceworks 2010 Showcase by Ashli Bickford
Check out the amazing work of my friend, Ashli Bickford. Ashli started Emerge Danceworks last semester and it’s already gaining ground. Not only is Ashli a dancer, choreographer, and leader, she’s also an amazingly talented filmmaker. Emerge will be having auditions next week on January 28th from 4pm-6pm. You can contact ashli_bickford@emerson.edu for more information.
